Swearing In Day 2025: Welcoming the 119th Congress
On Friday, January 3, 2025 the 119th Congress was sworn-in. Swearing-in day or “back to school” as it’s often called in Washington, DC, is a time for new members and lawmakers continuing in their roles to open up their Capitol Hill offices, host parties near the Capitol, and generally celebrate the start of the new Congress post-election. It’s the first day of work for new and ongoing senators and representatives and their staff.
National Council of Jewish Women’s (NCJW) Government Relations and Advocacy team members were there to meet as many policymakers and their staff as possible — welcoming them to DC (or back to DC) and sharing NCJW’s policy priorities for the next two years. We met with 44 offices; enjoyed bagels from Brooklyn, ice cream from Maine, and other local foods featured at each member’s celebratory event; and even encountered a snowstorm.
It was an important day for NCJW to make an impression and build relationships for the work ahead.
